About Rickerby Grange

Built in 1926 Rickerby Grange was built as the Grange for the nearby farm and has been welcoming travellers and holidaymakers through its doors since the 1930’s.

Rickerby Grange is blessed with a fantastic location. There’s free car parking in our ample car park and from then on there’s no real need to get behind the wheel again unless you want to venture further afield. A public footpath outside Rickerby Grange will take you into the finest fell walking country in the land including the iconic Catbells, Grisedale Pike, (often referred to as the ‘The Lakeland Matterhorn’) Causey Pike and Skiddaw, the peak that dominates the area, all being easily reachable from our front door. While one of the mountains that most enchanted Alfred Wainwright –  Blencathra – is just a few miles away.

Take the short 20 minute flat walk into Keswick, wander down to the Derwent Water lake shore, even hiring a boat or kayak to venture out, or succumb to the charms of the Newlands Valley – Rickerby Grange is a great location.

We offer our guests a stylish, cosy and welcoming  experience. We are committed to offering our guests a stay that means they can truly enjoy the comfort, the location, the food, the people and the ‘little luxuries’ of great breakfasts, good coffee, a lie in and a warm place to hang up a pair of muddy walking boots.

A place to explore from and to share our love and passion for the area, a place to rest weary feet and relax. A place where you can enjoy locally sourced breakfast and a place that doesn’t mind providing a personal service, a few maps, the odd book and a bit of local knowledge if needed. We also have a spacious car park and a secure cycle store.

Our Location

We are biased but we genuinely can’t think of a better place to take a break. From a gentle stroll along the lake shore to a lung busting mountain climb up Skiddaw, or from death defying via Ferrata to a relaxed trip on the Derwent Water launch soaking in the breathtaking scenery, there’s something for young and old and everyone in between.

But it’s not just outdoor pursuits and natural beauty that make The Lakes a must visit destination. The area is thriving with culture and history. From one of the most impressive prehistoric monuments in Britain at Castlerigg Stone Circle, to Roman Forts and hill top streets, to the history of the local people who mined at nearby Honister and Threlkeld. (Rickerby Grange is just one hour’s drive from Hadrian’s Wall, another Unesco World Heritage Site). The Lake District and the local area is also famous for some of England’s greatest writers and thinkers including Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth.

Discover world class theatre and cinema, festivals and events, and restaurants serving the finest local produce in ever more creative and mouth-watering ways, means Keswick and the surrounding areas have become a complete holiday destination.

Recently awarded World Heritage UNESCO status, the Lake District remains one of the UK’s most breathtaking national parks. Located right at the heart of it, and just 10 minutes on foot into Keswick, is Rickerby Grange.
